  Gregory Peck was a true gentleman: a humanitarian, philanthropist and genuine nice guy. I saw him years later at a huge AA meeting in Beverly HIlls. He wasn't an alcoholic; he was there to give someone an AA birthday cake. At first all I saw was a kind of silver glow with two black eyebrows in the middle of it. When it resolved into Gregory Peck I started toward him, but was stopped by a sobbing girl who needed immediate help. Mr Peck left while I was talking to her. I said, "Does it mean anything that you're in the same room as a great screen icon?" She choked out, "Yes, I sat next to him, I was crying and he gave me a tissue, and when we stood up for the prayer he took my hand, and it was all snotty!!" A true gentleman!

  The touching moment when he gives her all the photos of her day and her smile, that was their goodbye.

  One can't but be saddened that Hollywood no seems no longer capable of producing such films still, without becoming sexualised.

  At the end of Sidney Poitier's "Patch of Blue", the departing blind girl accidentally leaves behind a personal item, which allows the audience to envision a likely follow-up visit.  I think all of us wish something like that had concluded this film. Something, which would allow us to wish for the best, hope for the best.

  Eight years earlier Audrey nearly starved to death and worked with the Dutch resistance during the five year occupation by the Nazis.She was quite a woman.
