Sir Paul credits Jamerson as his inspiration to take the bass as a serious instrument

It is physically impossible not to move your body in some rhythmic way when Tower of Power "What is Hip?" starts playing...I consider it "call and respond" because they are answering the question "What is hip?" in real time.

Tower of Power might be the most underrated band of all-time.

For most of the 60’s at Motown they wouldn’t even record a song if Jamerson wasn’t on it. They took him off the road & put him on retainer, just so that he would always be available to put his signature lines & make every song he ever played on a masterclass on the bass. He redefined the role of bass guitar for every player that came after him. Long live James Jamerson. For an in depth knowledge & detail on James Jamerson’s style with transcriptions the book (with CD’s), “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” by Allan Slutsky is a comprehensive “must have” for every person who’s ever heard a Motown song. Every bass player should have this encyclopedic tribute to James Jamerson’s life & impact on music. Long Live James Jamerson!!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🍎❤

Nice to hear the shout out to Scott's bass lessons, the guy probably introduced and gotten a lot of people into bass by making it nice to learn from video's

As far as fantastic bass lines go, Chic's "Good Times" is way at the top of the list. There's a reason that "Rapper's Delight" was so big and brought rap into the mainstream, and it's not the lyrics.
Plus the songs that it influenced. "Another One Bites the Dust", "Need You Tonight"... Daft Punk liked it so much they made a song that was almost literally just a version of that riff and the lyrics "Around the World".

I am patiently waiting for Scary Pockets to make a reaction video on John Mayer's content. Doesn't matter if it's new or old, but I think it would be particularly cool if it was the newer stuff like from The Search For Everything and Sob Rock. Just saying ;-)

6:48 The Lemon Song JPJ and JB got that kick / bass locked on.
wasn't the first, but a pinnacle.
