One more thing I meant to say in the outro:

I know last year I did a Retrospective on Rise of the Empire and now I've done one for Republic Commando on May 4th. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL BE AN ANNUAL THING.
While I would like to do at least one more Retrospective (on The Force Unleashed), im not sure if I'll do any more after that. These take a lot of work, and I won't put the time in unless I really think I've got something worthwhile or unique to say.

That being said: are there any other games, Star Wars or otherwise, you might want to see me talk about this way in the future? Maybe your comment will spark an idea

That dead clone with the sniper rifle could also have just been a regular trooper attached to 36's squad
Remember you had your own trooper at the very start too

So the reason why none of the clones "Excel" in their specialization, is because Pandemic tested it and found it unfun since it was very difficult to get the right clone to do the job, or there would be unacceptable wait period that would make any time savings not worth it. So they gave up on it to focus on finishing the game.

The same with Kashyyk, the game was rushed out because they only planned for geonosis and the Prosecutor, and they decided that Kashyyk can't be the shortest of all the levels so they made it longer and didn't have enough time for polish.

Thanks for making this video, I'll take any opportunity to sing this game's praises!

One thing that always stuck in my craw about the ending was Sev's distracted state just before the end and how he was the only Delta squad member to be ambushed once the mission was complete. It might be far-fetched but in my mind I had this distinct impression that Sev actually played up his situation and defected to the CIS using the ambush as a cover story. Earlier in the Kashyyyk campaign the mis-packed charge already hinted that something was wrong with the squad and it seemed to me that Scorch didn't know what had happened or he probably would have taken more direct responsibility for the gaffe. The fact that there had been no incidents like it previously that you as the player see during the game makes it stand out as odd, since you expect your squad to always be at the top of their game. I realize there really isn't anything to point to any kind of motivation for Sev to betray his brothers like that but in my head it made for an interesting potential twist and cliffhanger.

When I first played this game at age 12, I thought the end of Geonosis was going to be the end of the game, only to be amazed when it continued on the Prosecutor. Only to be shocked again when it went to Kashyyyk. At that point I was expecting to be amazed again and have it load up a rescue mission for Sev, only to be abaolutely gutted when I saw the credits begin to roll. Best Star Wars game by a country mile

"The windows are open, and bugs are flying in" a thing every clone dreads.

A sequel that could have been Bad Batch before Bad Batch was even a thing.

The way the generic clones are presented in this game has always been so interesting to me because at the time of it's release all Clone Wars stuff basically portrayed them as basically perfect soldiers with little emotions. So seeing some of them being openly cowardly kinda adds to the "horror" aspect in the early Prosecutor sections because it really makes you wonder what could make them so terrified when basically everything you've seen of them like in the micro series for example where they've always gave off the impression of being fearless.

Seeing some of these gameplay encounters gave me PTSD. (Post traumatic Star Wars: Republic Commando Disorder)

It's wild to me how advanced the squad AI feels in a game from 2005. It is just such an immersive experience leading this epic squad through a series of gauntlet-run missions. It is hair-raising, white-knuckle stuff. A Dead Space remake treatment is well deserved, there is simply no game like Republic Commando. For me it is one of the greatest shooters ever made, let alone being a Star Wars game.
