Thank you for your passion and content on this subject, mobility in Mexico City is one of the main issues affecting the quality of life for chilangos.

I love that you study the line 3 specifically cuz I use that line and all people here and I say the same thing. Line 3 is a nightmare, because you never know how delay you can be :)

My dad was in charge of reporting incidents, ridership and delays for several lines of the Metro, while reading some of his documents after his passing it became both surprising and annoying that one of the biggest reasons for delays is that there's not enough drivers for the trains. The union is unable to guarantee enough metro drivers on time, in place, to drive the trains. I didn't run any statistics on the docs I found but I guess it accounted for about 20% to 30% of the delays.

Feel free to reach out if you want more info on this.

When a train dwells at a station you can look for the DBO signal at the front. DBO stands for Despacho Bajo Orden (Dispatch Under Order). It is a triangle-shaped light signal on the tracks or platforms indicating that the driver must stop the train and wait for explicit authorization from the Central Control Post (PCC) before moving forward.

Of all the reasons for platform screen doors, I wouldn't have thought of cats and dogs as being one of them. It's good to know Metro takes care of them and tries to find the owners. Mexico has a lot of heart!
I love this channel because you really focus on the hows and whys that these systems work (or don't work) rather than the typical "look at me ride this train with a wiki rehash of it". The fact that you collect your own data over time and do a true statistical analysis of it shows a realistic view of what the system is like rather than the typical day trippers view of it. Your focus on the developing world is excellent because that is where so much transit innovation is happening.

This means a lot, from people living on México city that always are struggling with the metro delays every single day. Take the train to go to work can be a gamble game that most of the times we lose.

Im glad that someone took the time to do an amazing analysis of data like this, really this means a lot because it can reach more people to get awareness of the metro delay situation.
