As a sometime single/solo female traveler with SAR and hunting canine partner I like to put/leave out extra camp chairs and men’s boots in camp…. For the visual effect it creates. Also like to leave a radio or ebook playing inside shelter if I leave.

Also as far as animals go of all species back country I find a high pitch coach’s whistle can be a useful tool. Have gotten moose, bears, foxes etc away with that high pitch sound they seem not to handle well…

Another thing you should do is always stage your vehicle to leave in a hurry don't just have piles of gear sitting out all over the place, use it then secure it when you're done. Know the closest medical facility and have a way to get there that doesn't depend on cell service.

A British guy and his wife bought a used CX500 Honda and rode around the world across the sahara, South America, Russia, Africa and North America, he wired the brake lights to a switch when stopping to camp people wouldn't be drawn to brake lights and you never show locals fear. The most honest were Russians.

I once walked in the woods for miles and ended face to face with wolf, I had no weapon to protect myself but said hello to the wolf and kept walking my way.

Thank you! Absolutely one of the best of these types of videos I’ve yet watched. Solid advice from someone that has obviously experienced the life style.

Having spent a lifetime of seven plus decades moving frequently, living on various continents, twenty-plus year career in the US Army, Infantry. Half a dozen years in Alaska, another half a dozen on and along the Chesapeake Bay, and now with my wife of fifty years back on several acres of country on the Allegheny Plateau of the Alleghenies/Appalachian Mountains of our home state Pennsylvania, your advice absolutely reflects what I found and experienced as well in a lifetime of essentially vagabonding.

It would be great if a few more content creators spent a little more time in living and learning some of the skills of which they create content about. It’s usually fairly obvious discerning which are good with making content but not necessarily quite as “good” with the practical application of the skills they talk about, or even subject matter the skills are to be applied to.

But once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts from your experiences!

Love this COMPREHENSIVE coverage of safety precautions for camping! Much respect for being real about safety out in the woods. It baffles me how some underestimate safety, especially those solo hiking/ camping!

Please keep these fear vids going all ya creators. Less people in the woods makes me happy. It’s dangerous out there folks . Stay in your house.

This is why you must be self aware and aware of your surroundings at all times, even deep in the wilderness. Don’t let the quiet beauty of nature fool you and make you relax and let down your guard, not even for a moment. I’m sorry things are like that, but this is the stupid world that we live in, so be ready for stupidity at a moments notice.

Great topics, I'm an outdoorsman, hunter, shooter, off roader, and you mentioned some things I had not thought of or considered seriously until now.

Great Video! Lots of info. I always go with my vibes. We met some Canadians who warned us about the pot growers in Canada and Alaska and to not go near them and leave if somehow you bumble into their camps. Never know what will happen. When I was 16, two of my friends and I were invited to stay on some land. Turns out it wasn't this guy's land and Two guys in Overalls and Shotguns showed up. Seriously. We got out of there immediately. Talk about scared. I'm always careful, but it helps to get tips. B/c I basically don't trust a lot of people. And always better to look poor than if you have anything.
