Stopped rolling at 55. Injuries were not worth it . Life requires your body , be careful .

51 and have been training since 23. Still train 5 times a week but have gotten really smart about recovery and nutrition.

im 35 and between work.combat sports i feel like im 70. i had to give up rolling and sparring. it sucks because the gym has been my outlet for basically everything since i was 17, but if i keep going i will end up hurting myself even worse and being homeless.

be happy you were able to pay the bills doing what you loved, and making a mark on the sport eddie.

no shame in an old master taking his due rest.

I remember Eddie and Joe Rogan promoting BJJ because of how easy it is on the body... When I trained BJJ, my body was a wreck 24/7. I know their intentions were good, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Think for yourself, folks - and more importantly; experience for yourself.

Started BJJ in 2003 got my black belt in 2014 and haven't trained BJJ at all since 2018. I'm 56. I don't miss all of the wear and tear on my body. What I do miss is the camaraderie.

As a 29yr old brown belt whose been training since I was a kid. I can’t fathom a day where I can no longer roll. May that day never come.

I started at 64. 2 years in now, and have been injured, cracked ribs etc. I changed the way I roll to a more defensive strategy. I won't roll with the fight club types. I focus on street survival and basic technique improvement now. Ill never be as good as the under 50 guys, but that's not important. "A man's got to know his limitations!"

I’m 59 and still training 5 days a week. I trained with Eddie in his prime many years ago. As long as I still feel good I’m not stopping.

So many injuries and moved on stories on here. Real dudes, real experiences. Same. Tried making a run to blue belt at 44. Shocking how injury prone my body became. That was new. Everything from legit rib injuries, to hyper extended elbow, to back issues. My body and arms ached when I picked up my toddler daughter. Took stock, put my ego aside- I need my body to last. I wanna be able to run and play during her childhood. Just wasnt worth it. Mad props to those who keep going. Sidenote: saw a brown belt’s knee buckle under him. Dude was curled up w/ tears. I was like, ya know what…im good.
