  Fun fact, there used to be houses on the marshland.  There still might be a handful left.  But a while ago a law passed that houses claimed by nature couldn't be rebuilt.  Some decades ago my father got a job to rebuilt one house destroyed by a fire started by some vandals.

  I&apos;ve been looking at these canals on local maps for decades now: at last I understand! <br>(Kind of ironic: if these were somethig beneficial, they probably would have filled-in years ago! That&apos;s just Murphy, hard at work!)

  Stunned thinking first these were to be layout of street grids, then of the scope of these for all along more than half of the wholesouth shore or so, at the first time I could see aerial photos of these, as I browsed around NYC area. &nbsp;Sadly realized later that the wetlands were wrecked. Thanks, I did not know more of that history,
