I really enjoy your videos getting myself set up to surf fish its a win win i can fish without the expense of boats and my girl can enjoy the beach while i fish i fish hard and its a win hope to get up to your area and check out your operation !! Sometimes the trouble of boat traffic and ramps and the expenses that go along i cant wait to cut my teeth with this style of fishing !

As far as light reels, the shimano Nasci 5000xg($145~)weighs 10 ounces, has a 22 pound drag and has a 41" retrieve, that's over 6 ounces lighter than the nautix, the Sedona 5000 is the same but no sealing and under 100 bucks. My Penn battle 3 4000 weighs 12 ounces but only has 15 pounds of drag, plus the prices of the dx have gone through the roof, where o got mine for $100. Not poo pooing the nautix, just saying there are lighter alternatives out there, some with caveats.

Those high drag numbers are just marketing hype. Drag tension should be set for the rod and the line. Try lifting a gallon jug of water just half full. <br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbLxT4GDMR8">https://youtu.be/JbLxT4GDMR8</a>

You should really look into 3.5lb test curve carp rods for set rig rods they are way more affordable than traditional surf rods and I like them better
