Michael Shannon at any given moment looks and sounds somehow simultaneously 35, 40, 45, 55 and 65 years old. He's an incredible actor though, and I agree the role in Take Shelter was amazing. I first became familiar with him via Boardwalk Empire and he was perfect in the role of Alden. He almost always elevates anything he appears in

Shannon is one of those guys... If I see he's in a film, I'll see it.. and regardless of whether or not I like it, he's always flawless

Man of Steel had its problems but Michael Shannon wasn't one of them. He crushed that role.

I saw Bug in the theatre thinking it would be like Spun. Boy, was i wrong. Then I did a double feature of Take Shelter and Melancholia, which kinda broke my soul. Huge fan of Shannon so much so that my dad refers to him as, "that big eyed guy you like." Not only is he interesting, he's humble.

I think it was Shape of Water that really cemented for me how good he is, that is an astonishingly good movie, and he is just incredible in it.

Everytime I see a movie with Michael Shannon pop up in a movie I go oh hey well this will be entertaining at the very least.

I still say my favorite role is his philosophical drug dealer in The Night Before (my must watch Christmas movie every year)

Pretty wild to make this video without having seen Boardwalk Empire. Nelson Van Alden is one of the most interesting and twisted characters of all time and he played him for nearly a decade.

Boardwalk Empire was actually my introduction to Michael Shannon as an actor and god damn he was so fucking good in that role.
