  Great video. I went through the same learning process bending ash stems for canoes. I did not get as far into step 3 as you did ( didn't soak long enough and no downy ) will try that next time. Thank you

  Thanks so much for taking the trouble to make this video. It is brilliant to see objectivity and careful experimentation. I have books, and I&apos;ve been to places that run classes (for chairmaking mostly), but it&apos;s always &nbsp;treated as a black art. You show that it isn&apos;t, and that most of us could get good results if we were as patient and determined as you&apos;ve been. And anyway, you seem to have been through the pain, so we don&apos;t have to! <br>Thanks again.

  When you are selecting your wood pieces to steam bend, sort any pieces that have visual defects in them, like knots, etc. &nbsp;There is no use soaking a defective piece for a week, because it will fail at the defect when you try to steam bend it. Thanks!

  I recently made a rocking chair and had no problem with the kiln dried wood but had a bit of spring back....which luckily I accounted for. &nbsp;I am going to embark on a much larger bending project soon and will definitely take your instruction into account. &nbsp;Thanks soooooo much for posting this simple yet well explained process. (Lars)
