  Don&apos;t forget the leader of Siriza made us publicly vote if we want a 3rd package, we voted no and he still got the package.

  Goldman Sachs also were trading bonds of Greek debt and there are rumors that they betted against them (shorted) when 2008 blew up as they had insider knowledge

  During the financial crisis Greek citizens were 1€ away from starvation meanwhile politicians where living a luxurious lifestyle buying mansions like it was nothing

  Greece’s biggest problems are corruption and a government that doesn’t really exist. Aside from Transnistria, there’s probably hardly anywhere else in Europe where it’s as easy to bribe officials as it is in Greece. If you don’t want to pay taxes there, you just slip the tax office a few extra bills with your tax return, and they never contact you again. And you can forget about the government anyway, because the same three families keep installing the heads of government they like. There’s no democracy there, just total anarchy. It has its charm, but living there long-term eventually became too exhausting.

  Those rescue packs that Greece received are what people in Greece call &quot;mnimonia&quot;(μνημόνια). As someone who grew up in a family where both of my parents worked for the public, after the mid 2000s, saving money was never really an option
