  Debt can also be used as a (admittedly weak) threat deterrent. Almost all (US) debt with foreign countries has a clause where if they declare war on us, the debt becomes void.

  If the dollar collapses don’t be fooled your debts doesn’t disappear, they add it back to the new currency or mode of barter. Best advice get outta debt? Make regular investments be debt free and financially stable

  The only country that managed to pay back was Romania. Then went back in to a level that won’t be paid back e ever.

  You didn&apos;t actually explain who actually owns all the world debt. This should be done as a % breakdown.

  This should be required curriculum in all high schools but yet, such information is not easily available. Knowledge is power! Deny knowledge means greater control and you know the rest of the story...

  Buying new debt to pay off old debt is called a Ponzi scheme btw.

  Governments also have some really scummy ways of covering debts: Print lots of money to not directly pay off the debt but instead create inflation which makes it much easier to pay off.<br>The ultimate middle finger to your own people who have to now live with their money being worth a lot less, and anyone who lends you money.
