Have you ever had to step away from something you loved to find your own voice?

This interviewer deserves a lot of credit. Most guitar interviews stay focused on gear, scales, and technique. He consistently asked questions that got Oz talking about how he actually thinks—rhythm, color, creativity, voice, mastery, and the lifelong pursuit of music. He knew when to dig deeper and when to simply let Oz talk. One of the better musician interviews I've seen in a long time. Well done!

Thank you!!!

34:05 -- this is a great way to approach complex harmony, not needing the entire scale - just a couple of tasty bits around the key chord tones.

This is a terrific interview with some of the best insights I’ve ever heard from a player! Looking forward to seeing Oz w/ Robben Ford next week at the Iridium.

We guitarists think in so many ways, and everyone is an individual.
I remember my friends in school and I would call power chords by number, like 3-5-5 or 0-2-2, etc.
And I happen to have synesthesia, so I see colors in my mind associated with notes, and that helps me organize them.

I saw Al di meola live a couple weeks ago and my mind was blown. I haven't enjoyed live music like that in many years.
