With regards to Joe's comment "singing with the scales" I remember watching Rory Galagher at a concert and on several songs he would sing notes (not lyrics) right along with his lead guitar licks it was a joy to see. Also Joe Walsh singing harmony in unison with his lead guitar through a talk box. IMHO what separates Joe from other big name guitar players is his ability to compose music so well.
