I love videos like this. Although we knew the resistor integrated into the short, and missing, you go through the troubleshooting method. Love the website. Thank you.

Highly useful info being shared here! Thorough video explaining how the red light works. This will aid in my future repairs with the GG. They are slowly dying especially those born in 91-93 (unattended ones that is). Thanks again Luke! Looking forward to next video.

Ok I did the caps per your video, I got red light and sound but not video. Board had minimal corrosion.

Hi!

Hope you can help me. I know this video is old but maybe you will read this.

I have a GG that wouldn't work after a re-cap, so I took all the caps out again in case I messed something up but no, no red light. I noticed no dead shorts anywhere but I noticed I had no 34V or 5V, so i went to your guide and followed along, till the point you said 34V is not needed and to cut the line because that can cause problems sometimes and yeah that certainly sorted the red light.

Now I have a red light but no 34V, and I can't find anywhere on the guide how to solve that problem. I tried to look at the schematics but I guess I'm getting old and I barely remember my electronic classes in university because I can't seem to find the issue.

Hope you can help me, I'm just dumbfounded by this issue. IMy guess is there is a short (but not dead short) somewhere in the 34V line and that is causing the GG to pull down the 34V and the 5V, but i can't find it for the life of me.

Thanks in advance!
