Not really a medical professional, but I once had a school nurse tell me “Well I don’t have any friends and I turned out alright.”

The whole "don't go into medicine" thing definitely read to me as them going "Nothing I do truly lasts; no matter how much I try and help, I know it's just delaying the inevitable and at some point I'm just going to let them down by saying that there's nothing I can do."<br><br>Doesn't feel like burn out though; I think they've just been unable to help so many patients that they've taken all the blame on themselves.

I have an autoimmune disease that is one of the most painful skin conditions in the world and my doctor at the pain clinic told me "sometimes I get headaches and it's just something I have to deal with" in regards to giving me pain medication. I never went back.

On the note of the tall guy with back pain, it's so true. I'm 6'7", and have back pain pretty often nowadays, and I'm not even 28. The thing about tall people not living as long is also statistically probable, but MAN the doctor was too indelicate about mentioning it.

My favourite was going in to a doctor with crackling lungs and difficulty breathing. Having gone through it before, I knew it was a lung infection... worked in a terrible place, so got about 2-3 per year. That time, the clinic had a new doctor and she told me it was heart burn and to just take some heart burn meds. Had to go to another clinic to actually get it dealt with. Found out by discussing with friends, that was her shtick... anything in the chest she would blame on heartburn.<br>There is now a joke in town that if you go to that clinic with a stab wound, they'll tell you it's heart burn... or asthma (other doctor's shtick at that clinic).

Doctors and needles don't scare me anymore because I have a chronic illness. It nearly killed me due to blood loss before it got diagnosed. It makes it so I've had to get blood work every 2-3 months for years now. The worst thing I had ever been told is pretty much "do this or cancel the next appointment" which is stupid. I thought the person would understand how entrenched I am and how much patience and time it would take to get me to the first step. Makes me have some very malicious urges towards that person and want to make highly racist remarks. It's like they think difficult mental health cases can be handled the same way every time with adults.

As someone with a torturous amount of chronic pain AND an chronic disease, it has been very few times where doctors have acted wierdly, but there has been some funny moments. Love your reactions and i hope you do more reaction content!! Much love from an Swedish subscriber!!

I had a doctor who looked at my feet (had drop foot in both feet) and he literally said “There’s nothing wrong, go see this other doctor”.Edit to add: I’m now going to refer to the doctors office as the Human Repair Shop.

i apparently couldn't even get my seizure medication, because my doctors said nothing was wrong with me.<br>then years later at a different hospital, a doctor said "why are you only coming to us now for this? its a miracle your child is even alive"

Last doctor I had I went to get an assessment on the damage to my toes and possible ideas how to avoid making them worse or where to go to maybe fix it. Told him I had been wearing the same shoes for 14 years so far and only now it's problem because of the long walks to get my groceries (2 hour walk). His bright idea was "Get more comfortable shoes".
