I can't help but think that protosaber users would have been smart enough to run the cable up their sleeve.

6:12 I love the mishmash of tech levels in these art pieces. We've got guys in medieval plate/leather armor with primitive spears and shields, a couple of ballistic guns, and high-tech energy swords

ngl, i'm surprised none of the movies or series showed the raw level 1 kyber crystal being used without a lightsaber, such as a scenario where a Jedi is fighting an enemy, but their lightsaber hilt gets chopped or destroyed, but the kuber crystal was missed and got flung out intact. So as a last ditch effort since they are about to be killed, the Jedi dives for, grabs the crystal and uses the raw energy to kill their foe, but likely at a great cost, severe burns, lost limb, if not, died in the process.

I'll note though that in the 5-6 era mass production sabers any force wielder of the right alignment could use were also being built. The Jedi had standardized saber staffs for Temple Guards, which matched with the idea that they were anonymous protectors of order within the temple, and in Ep 2 Anakin and Obiwan are tossed "spares" to replace their own lost ones. And the Inquisitors are clearly all using mass produced sabers as well.

Huh. I had no idea force users tried to channel a bigger crystal by hand before protosabers.

Man I forget what book it was and it’s 100% legends now but when people making their lightsabers from various kinds of crystals was a thing was sick. Like one Jedi from a water heavy planet using a pearl

All we need is a lil more detail on crystal variance. Like the fools kyber being a weaker blade to the (dubious canon) orange Krystal that emitted hot magma as well as the blade itself

Why would Sith be using the proto saber, if they were not worried about using dark side force with the previous generation?
