I bought nothing from these famous London yarn shops

I found this so refreshing and full of common sense. It seems so many knitting podcasts are about going to yarn shops and buying lots of yarn. They sometimes make me feel nauseous, like I have stuffed myself with too much 'food'.
Love your approach and your content both here and with Wilson.
Have a lovely weekend 🥰

Well done, Sophie. Store it at the store is my motto for all items. xx

You did a great job of giving these shops exposure, which is invaluable. I’m sure they appreciate it.

I work at a yarn store and so many people get overwhelmed when yarn shopping. I always advise them to take pictures of what they like and think about getting and look through them a couple times before chosing "the one".
A couple of our costumers also like to come in sporadically to check out what is new. Just so they know what is in store, when they think about new projects.

Just stumbled upon your channel! I also live in London and love the parakeets and knitting, and planners, and books… so excited to find your channel and see there’s a new yarn shop to visit!

Such wonderful shops! You have my deepest respect for not buying everything. But your approach makes so much sense. Well done 👏

I feel this way in a yarn festival- I get overwelmed and I feel that there is soooo much choice that I don't know what to choose! It's true that I don't feel this way in a book store also - maybe it's like you said: in a yarn shop we think about the project, the yarn, the color, the feel, the quantity of yarn ... all at the same time. I don't have as many thoughts when I buy a book. 😅

How refreshing and creative to see an entire video about not buying anything 🧡 That’s the influencing the world needs more of! My fave thing about knitting is how slow and low consumption it is (for me at least). I only buy yarn when I need it and I scratch the shopping itch by scrolling Ravelry for pattern inspo. It’s like shopping but slower and custom.

I went shopping for needles and markers yesterday and willed myself not to buy any yarn. I just thought about what I already have and my wips and project queue and said no.😂

Thank you … I found this really useful. I feel that pressure to buy and too often impulsively. I’m going to try and be more mindful on my next visits and use it as information gathering primarily with a view to making more thoughtful informed choices 😊

Love that poetry night idea. I knit, I nat, I knitter, I natter, I am a knitter, I am a natterer, I cast on, I cast off, I'm off, to cast on, knit and natter. Yarn over.
