I was never confused. I think younger people just need things spelled out for them

Imagine continually insinuating that the movie is copy pasting from the show, lmao.

Anne Rice hated it when Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat. After seeing the movie, she issued an apology; she loved his performance.

I saw this in the cinema in 1994, it made complete sense on it's own.

I think it’s interesting how unaware the three of you are, on how much those of us who’ve aged with this movie, how good this movie is in a vacuum, that you think other material is needed to be able to enjoy it.
I think watching this movie, for you lot, is like cutting sugar out of your diet — but I mean that with all kindness 💙💙

I was 10 in 94 when I saw this movie. Had never read the book at that time .. was not confused.

Daniel is never named in this, because in the book, he wasnt named. He didnt get a name until Queen of the Damned. Which he is in.

As for Claudia, she is even younger in the book. She was 5yrs old. When she is turned, the process basically erases her mind and resets her, almost like an infant... So she never remembers her previous life. They did the same for her in this movie. Thats why she seems to not remeber her turning.

This version is much closer to the book, despite them having to rush through everything and leave out a lot of minor sideplots.

The one major thing that is the same in all the versions is - Louis is an unreliable narrator (or has been/still is lying to himself).

It's physically not obvious since Anne Rice's vampires don't have sex. That need got replaced by the hunger for blood. The movie is accurate to the book in that regard.
