  Ahh, Interview With the Vampire... a story about a bitter and messy yet steamy divorce between two vicious drama queens, with baby trapping and a rebound guy all wrapped up in a "vampire" movie

  So Christian Slater's character was originally meant to be played by River Phoenix but he past away so Christian donated his entire salary from this movie to Rivers favourite charities. I think it was like $250,000.

  This was the early 90s, HIV AIDS era. At the time audiences and especially studios, weren't big on romantic gay themes, so though Rice would have wanted the characters to be openly queer, they could only really "imply" it through closeness, touch, looks, etc. to avoid alienating mainstream audiences. Cut to 2022's IWTV's first episode, and I think we've made good. LOL!

  Honestly, I kinda feel like the constant edging kind works better than &quot;and then they had sex,&quot; with the view of vampires presented here. They all seem to be consumed by this constant longing for something that they never can really fulfil, and stuff like the almost-kiss with Armand is an excellent depiction of that theme.

  The writer has gone on record about her and the story&apos;s conversation with bisexuality. For a book written in the 70&apos;s I think it did really well for its time!

  Originally Anne Rice was vehemently against Tom Cruise being cast as Lestat--think people&apos;s original reaction when Heath Ledger the rom com guy was cast as The Joker. But after seeing his performance she took out a full page ad retracting her opinion and praising him in the role. I have to agree, it&apos;s so against type for him yet he pulls of the Brat Prince so well. I still get chills when he comes &apos;back from the dead&apos; to confront Louis &amp; Claudia
