  I've just found this channel but it's like finding a live sound Jesus. Nice to see a clip of The Mary Wallopers too, I mixed them at a folk festival a couple years back!

  Thanks for describing the sound of the SM57 and placement on the cone well. Most of the time in videos like these they'll just say put it here because it sounds good and try experimenting without telling you why.

  Great advice and I&apos;m SO happy to hear somebody say 1) the 57 can be harsh (which is why I prefer a 906) and 2) get a 57 off the cap towards the side of the cone. 57 close to center is a good starting place for recording when bright guitars sit in the mix the way people expect. But live we need to reproduce the <b>sound heard onstage</b> in a more natural way. Nobody on stage is listening to the guitar amp on axis, unless the amp is tilted up at the player&apos;s head. So my rule of thumb is &quot;mic off axis when listening off axis&quot;.

  Another option for the acoustic guitarist who turns up with a guitar without a pickup could be to use something like a Seymour Duncan Woody pickup that mounts easily in the sound hole of the guitar.

  Plus 1 on the Sennheiser , 906 maybe a little smoother than the SM 57 but they work fine of course

  Nice video! Just subscribed. I am confused, I’m a lead guitar player and have my guitar come through the monitor. Without it, it’s hard to hear myself. You’re saying I shouldn’t use the monitor for it?

  Hi! First thanks for nice videos! Second... Why do u use DI for guitar processor or digital pedal board? If it has xlr outputs isn&apos;t that enough? :))
