I'm gonna chalk some of the misplays up to getting electrocuted

Armstrong is a sadist, so he didn't want to defeat Yusei quickly, he wanted to burn him slowly, that's why he didn't want to focus on repeatedly attacking him, his character flaw was his sadism.

I think Armstrong was going for deckout from the beginning

Armstrong has a documented history of abuse of authority and violence against inmates, who despise him for it, which is why they gave Yusei their cards

He wasn’t expecting yusei to even have a deck so the inmates are the only people he could have gotten cards from. Essentially it’s a challenge to his authority. From a meta perspective, by donating cards, they’re all fighting Armstrong which means winning deckout means he was able to effortlessly beat down everyone in lockup.

Deckout ensures maximum suffering to the prisoners watching their cards amounting to nothing

I think it was pretty obvious that Armstrong was not a good duelist and ruled the prison through fear and his cheating, as soon as someone who knew how to deal with his tactics showed up, Armstrong was outclassed.

"Yusei vs everyone in prison" is a crazy sentence to start the video with.

Yusei using a loaned deck twice, winning both - winning with the second scrub loaned deck in a worse match-up duel, cemented him as being just as badass as Atem was.

I really like how Yusei cheats to counter the wardens cheating, it is really fun to see him sort of out cheat the cheater

11:48 I will argue that he could try that, but we should remember that Armstrong was cheating throughout the entire duel, including seeing what Yusei had in his hand. So pulling that exact play might come with the risk that Armstrong blew it up.

Forcing players to work with what they got with bad decks was one of the best things about early 5Ds, makes the game more interesting in my opinion

It's honestly surprising how many times someone gets electrocuted in 5D's.

Im not gonna lie, the soundtrack locking the fuck in when Yusei gets the cards he needs to use Triangle O's effect is the best part of that duel.
>You have 200 LP left are you completely out of your mind what could you possibly be thinking right now that makes you wanna waste a turn doing what you just did?
>Because im going to win.

As much as it isn’t practical, I have always liked the gimmick of “bad cards” where the goal is to redirect their effects towards your opponent. It’s such a fun play style to watch in the anime.
