  I truly believe that, in the end, Emily was simply trying to reconnect with Lorelai through Rory. Everything that happens with Rory, Emily thought about her daughter. Richard on the other end, was really enjoying his granddaughter.

  At the end of the day, Emily had a lot of flaws, but she fought for their relationship, it was horrible most of the time, but she didn't give up

  The way Emily knew Luke and Lorelai were perfect for each other early on, accepted them once she realized he was the love of Lorelai’s life and then went so far as to offer a house as wedding gift.. such character growth and I refuse to accept that they hadn’t grown closer in AYITL.

  Awww I really wanted the ending scene where Lorelai tells Emily they can talk about any improvements to the inn at Friday Night Dinner. A dinner that will continue on because Lorelai wants it to. No obligations, no strings. Just dinner.

  I really loved the scene where Lorelai was laid up from a back spasm and emily was waiting on her hand and foot. that was her purely showing how much she loves and cares about her daughter

  Only a brilliant actress like Kelly Bishop could have turned someone as difficult and complex as Emily into one of the most lovable, sympathetic and charming characters on Gilmore Girls. The sad thing is that even though she is unkind, despotic and unreasonable with anyone who isn&apos;t wealthy and powerful (let&apos;s face it, the way in which she treats the help is downright disgusting), Emily is an extremely good, loving and devoted mother who is willing to sacrifice everything for a family that unfairly regards her as a tiresome, banal and inconsequential person.<br><br>The fact that she gradually becomes more independent as the series progresses and ends up living her life on her own terms after Richard dies, is really great.

  Emily was protecting Lorelai behind Lorelai&apos;s back when Christopher&apos;s parents just blamed everything on her. Lorelai felt stifled by Emily&apos;s parenting but she&apos;s somewhat like that with Rory too 👀 She saw Rory as a friend, was suffocating sometimes, they were so codependent with each other. Hence why Rory couldn&apos;t function on her own without always going back to Lorelai in AYITL...
