  I lived in Indiana for 8 years. Coming from the east coast they were uncomfortably nice. I got used to it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I live in Colorado now and wish they were like Indiana people. I’ve been scoffed at here for holding the door open

  I’m biased but Lawrence, KS was a great cheap place to live for me. Moved from DFW to there and it was like night and day. People so nice that you feel like you’re being pranked. Traffic isn’t bad and you can skip college crowds with ease. 30 minutes away from KC if you want a taste of “big city” life. Moved to DC and miss it like hell. Definitely considering moving back.

  Places that are affordable in Wisconsin include Wausau, Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and Appleton. In the UP city of Marquette, Michigan.

  Great video Briggs! &nbsp;I especially liked your last one on the PNW. &nbsp;We are looking for towns of &lt;100k people, somewhat out in nature or nature-adjacent that we could live on the outskirts of. &nbsp;Pocatello, ID looked beautiful, not sure about that much snow, but we will put it on our list of places to visit1

  I feel drastically safer when I&apos;m in Chicago than when I&apos;m in Muncie. If you live in Muncie, your car and your home will get robbed, how many times depends on how long you stay. Muncie is a dump. Terre Haute is a dump too, but it also smells. Saginaw and Peoria are also bad, and my cousin lived in Mansfield for a long time and now will never go back. The only thing I know about Lima is you&apos;re pronouncing it incorrectly, same as Wabash.

  I basically grew up in Mansfield. Well not technically Mansfield but in a small village called Lucas on the outskirts of town, and then Ashland, a smaller city 15 miles to the north. I know Mansfield is getting better but I&apos;ve always felt it was still pretty rough. I would much rather live in one of the many smaller surrounding towns than to actually live in Mansfield. <br><br>I will always have a place in my heart for Northern Ohio because it&apos;s where I was born and spent 40 years of my life. But now that I live in the south (Northwest Arkansas), I don&apos;t know if I would ever move back. I like seeing the sun and not having crazy lake effect snow every winter. The gray skies in northern Ohio will eventually wear you down. Now that I live somewhere it&apos;s gets sunny most days, I just feel happier in general.

  These videos amaze me in that it is taken for granted that no one plans ahead and everyone is expected to enter retirement will all expenses intact. Does no one pay off their housing costs before retiring anymore? At least pay off a mortgage and downsize or save enough to buy a small apartment or trailer by the time you retire and you can cut even these cheap living costs almost in half. Or better yet, you can live somewhere nicer where you won&apos;t freeze half the year and bake the other half.
