  When &quot;don&apos;t buy a computer right now&quot; turns into &quot;don&apos;t bother buying a computer ever&quot;. Because they don&apos;t want us to own things. We&apos;re supposed to rent and subscribe to everything. People owning things just isn&apos;t as profitable for them. Hopefully someone will eventually step in to fill the production gaps but it doesn&apos;t seem likely when the barrier to entry is so high and every single competitor has no interest in you succeeding and will actively block you at every turn. <br><br>The golden age of personal computing is over. All good things must come to an end in a system as magnificent as the one we&apos;re so blessed to be apart of. Our overlords are so unequivocally generous. We&apos;re so grateful. Quick, everyone grovel as hard as you can. Maybe they will let you rent a potato for free for a day. Imagine the possibilities.

  I built a hefty PC Tower about 2 years ago and just the ram alone would cost nearly as much today as the entire PC componentry cost 2 years ago.

  I feel like neo-amish. They froze the technology at 19th century level and I froze my technology at windows 7, ms office 2007 level. We are both good.

  NO way, Bobby... No cloud nothin&apos;. You can&apos;t convince me that the hardware shortages aren&apos;t an intentional move to drive us to cloud computing services. They get our money and our data to train their LLMs, and in exchange we get no control, no privacy, and we get screwed.
