I rushed home with my copy of New Boots and Panties, and went to play it on my brother's record player, which was better than mine, and he was out. Dad was shaving in the bathroom when the opening lines of Plaistow Patricia blasted out. The door opened and the old man, face covered in shaving cream, yelled, "What the bloody hell's going on?" Blimey, that's nearly 50 years ago.

True story: Ian and the Blockheads came to the U.S. in 1977.<br>When they came to Boston, Massachusetts, they all got drunk and would go to very fancy restaurants and shout "beefburgers"!<br>Ian would get so drunk, he'd stagger down the street screaming "HIT ME, HIT ME!!!!"<br>A year later, they had a massive hit with "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick".

I loved him, a brilliant wordsmith, a total maverick and a very handsome bloke :planet-orange-purple-ring:
