  Little Richard was one of the first true crossover artists playing to mixed audiences and he inspired and was covered by *everybody*. And he had Jimi Hendrix in his backing band at one point.

  I was waiting to board a flight from LA to Atlanta years ago. One of the gate agents came up to a small group of passengers before boarding started. It was Little Richard and his party, and the gate agent was asking them whether they’d like to board early as a courtesy, or wait until the end. He and one other were in First and the others were near the front in Coach. Turns out that Little Richard had really bad knees and had a hard time walking, so they chose to pre-board. I had been upgraded that night, and ended up just two rows behind him. Observing the boarding process after we were seated, I noticed that many people passing by him seemed to recognize him (he was hard to miss!) and acknowledged him. He seemed to really enjoy and appreciate the attention, and interacted with everyone who spoke to him.<br><br>A couple of weeks later when I was flying back to LA, I had a connecting flight in Dallas. Guess who connected in Dallas for the second flight!

  One of the pioneers of Rock n Roll. I enjoyed that one and it brings back memories. &nbsp;I remember when there wasn&apos;t any rock and roll. &nbsp;No Elvis and no Little Richard. No Jerry Lee.

  My Dad was a railroad worker, and he had many black friends. &nbsp;He took me to a night club when I was about 6 or 7 years old to see Little Richard perform. &nbsp;I remember it like it was yesterday!! &nbsp;I guess he was my first &quot;concert&quot; experience. &nbsp;I still love Little Richard today, and I am 75.

  The man with the Superman curl is Bill Hailey and the guy who introduces Little Richard in the beginning is Alan Freed who was the first rock &amp; roll DJ. Both are in the R&amp;R hall of fame.
