An old US Army Master Sergeant Vietnam veteran told me that the Australian SAS was the best he encountered. Yet the ROK Marines were the absolutely most blood thirsty and chilling.

Australian SAS did not use insect spray as it could be smelled by the enemy from at least 300 meters away.

98% of pictures show Americans not Australian, we used hexamine or small pieces of c4 to heat rations in the jungle no smell or smoke. It is disappointing these stories are not portrayed correctly. SAS did not use snipers and if the main enemy unit was 3 kms away it would take at least an hour to get to the bunker system. From one who was in Vietnam.

He even got it wrong over the weight of the rations they carried in. The rats were not that heavy, no tin no superfluous foods. Just stuff that gave energy.

Australian SAS never used Sterling submachine guns mate, not good enough, the F1 was better. <br>Australian Army used the F1 in V, not sure about its use with the Aussie SAS though. Was used by section scouts before the M16 became available. They also used (but preferred not) doctored L1A1 SLRs
