  I live in Korea and no one looks like that without ridiculous amounts of plastic surgery. It's wild that the average Korean look is not good enough and you must have surgery. smh And wearing make-up three shades lighter than your neck has me feeling like "I see dead people". It's not cute. And the toe nail comment can't be true cause I see some rough toes here.😅

  The sad thing is that a lot of these modern Japanese, Korean, and Chinese beauty standards are (have been) influencing Vietnam and other southeast Asian countries. I'm an older Vietnamese American and it's interesting seeing how girls from Vietnam over the years are getting paler and starting to meet those standards closer--either through makeup, botox/cosmetic surgery, or simply a matter of only individuals who fit the standard more getting more internet traction and seeming more prevalent while other girls are pushed aside. Not saying Viet and other SEA girls can't look "Korean" or "Japanese" naturally, but it's just sad that common traits like our wider or flater noses and darker skin are so unwanted.

  I live in Daegu, South Korea and I have a friend who's a personal trainer who told me that, according to South Korean beauty standards, he has curly hair and is dark skinned and he believes himself to be fat. Now, this guy was a former model and has a very healthy muscular build with a normal amount of body fat because he's no longer starving or dehydrating himself for the camera. His hair is not curly by any means. If anything, his bangs have a slight natural wave that isn't very noticable. And lastly, if he's dark skinned, then I must be burnt, because in no way is he dark skinned. I even held my arm up to his arm to prove to him that he is not actually dark skinned. He just doesn't bleach his skin, and it looks very healthy. But because of these unrealistic standards, the social environment he grew up in led him to be insecure about things that aren't there, no matter how much you squint.
