  They couldn’t repudiate Mao the way the Soviets repudiated Stalin because Mao wasn’t <i>just</i> the PRC’s Stalin – he was their Stalin <i>and</i> their Lenin inconveniently rolled into one megalomaniacal package.

  She wasnt his wife. They had an affair while he was still married to someone else. She was evil incarnate though. My family were scholars who survived the cultural revolution and i still hear the horror stories.

  As someone born during the Cultural Revolution and having parents and grandparents who were persecuted during the Cultural Revolution, I can confidently say, Mao was evil, but his wife was the devil!

  Some people get even a tiny bit of power and they turn into tyrants - HR employees, Reddit mods, managers - sometimes they&apos;re just monsters. When one gets massive power then... Yikes.
