  My grandmother was 12 years old during WWII and was almost taken to Jasenovac. Before the enemy soldiers loaded her in the truck, my grandma&apos;s uncle came and begged them to let her go and take him instead, even tho he had a wife and three children of his own. They agreed and my grandma&apos;s uncle went to Jasenovac instead of her, the family never saw him again. The story made me very said when my grandma told itnto me for the first time 😢 but without that uncle&apos;s sacrifice, my grandma would have met an untimely end and I wouldn&apos;t be here right now.

  Im from Slovenia. We went to &nbsp;Jasenovac as a part of primary school excursion back then in yougoslavia (I believe it was 1987). I still have chills when I remember seeing the place and hearing what when on there. Horrifying.<br>When the war was ending thousands of ustaše were running through my region over the border into Austria. Only to be rejected by the brits who send them back... They are all buried here 10 km from my town. Not everyone who ran was a combatant, but I reckon nobody really cared back then.. The war sucks.

  My grandfather was drafted by Ustase as a police oficer. He escaped only after two days and joined the partisans. He said Ustase were butchers, he met Francetic. All of it is true, even much worse.

  I never forget the story of my great grandmother, she and her two small kids was arrested and on the way to camp when on the some quick stop she managed to walked away from a crowd in the near by forest <br>she said that one soldier saw her but decided to turn the head around and that saved her and kids.<br>Crazy other way around I wouldn’t be here today.

  There is a massive ustashe movement still going in Australia. There are Croatian clubs in Sydney Melbourne and Canberra with photos and ante Pavlic hanging in memorial. It’s disgusting. Majority of the Croatians in Australia escaped after the war to escape deserved prosecution, missing and holding ties too a “free Croatia” their children and grandchildren start too believe that shit as well

  My grandfather lost his younger sister along with 8 or 9 other family members, half of whom were young children. He rarely spoke about these atrocities, and he never ever spoke bad of Croatian people. In fact, he had Croatian and Bosniak friends. If he was able to chose humanity after everything he endured, it is really sad and disheartening to see younger generations speak with so much hate these days.
