  Sometimes the shorts are so frustrating, as a viewer. I’ll find one that really intrigues me and then go to the channel hoping for a full video … and nope, that little short is all they have. I guess I like them as trailers for “real” videos.

  I'm glad youtubers are still bothering to point out shit like this, I feel like everyone expects the algorythm to get somewhat worse with time but lately it's become unusable in a way that punishes high effort content from small to mid sized channels so harshly that it's a struggle even find the stuff I'm fucking subscribed to, if I watch a bit to much of a certain type of content over the course of a day or two sucks to be me because that's ALL youtube will feed me for the next week. It's like the Dimitri Martin bit about how annoying salad is to eat because you have to achieve a certain ratio of ingredients with each bite in order to get the full range of flavors out of it throughout your dining experience but so much worse and it's seemingly designed to isolate you into one specific little online bubble or another. The problem with youtubes algorythm is so bad it's created a situation where I actually agree with Shadiversity the budding AI bro and writer of a book that posits that underage rape victims will be happier if it leads to them giving birth on what many of the issues are with it.

  This vid on biases made me realize that the art channels I follow are split in a weird way. The channels that offer art lessons are hosted by male creators and the female art creators I follow do speedpaints with or without storytime/commetary. It makes me wonder. Were forced out of the lessons side of the algorithm when they started their channels? I've been following these creators for a long time, so I wonder what would come up in the algorithm if I were to search for art lessons now.

  I think the fact that YT paying creators bugger all for shorts is one of the reasons they&apos;re pushing them so hard. Of course wanting to get in on that massive tiktok audience too, but I think they&apos;re missing the point that the majority of tiktok users are much <b>much</b> younger than people who prefer YT, and those users are going to prefer to stay on tiktok. I wish all social media apps would quit trying to emulate tiktok, it is making <b>everything</b> worse -_-

  Ik everyone says this but why inject ai into places &nbsp;where a person is needed? I want ai to do my dishes and laundry, not making art or deciding algorithms fkr major companies.

  I use a Chrome Extension to block Shorts on Youtube so I never see them.

  One time I’ve been especially frustrated by the algorithm is book reviews. I had to dig and sort for creators who weren’t white guys (who mostly look mostly straight). Like I get that this dude gets lots of views, but I want the perspectives and recommendations of other queer people and people of colour. The algorithm doesn’t seem to ever pick up on that 😢
