SHTF Bugout‼️ Food On The Move

Bug out survival, emergency food, wilderness survival, get home scenarios, SHTF preparedness, stealth camping, survival fishing, hunting, water procurement, and moving undetected — in this video, I’m putting my real-world bug out gear to work and answering one of the biggest questions in a prolonged emergency: What happens when the food you carried runs out? I typically plan to have around 48 hours’ worth of calories with me. But what happens if getting home takes three days, five days, a week, or longer? Carrying enough food for every possibility quickly becomes unrealistic, especially when you’re traveling on foot and burning thousands of calories. That means eventually you may have to find food and water along the way — and in a true worst-case scenario, doing it without unnecessarily drawing attention to yourself could be just as important as finding the calories. In this video, I demonstrate the type of gear I would most likely have with me and break down several options for gathering food while staying mobile. We look at fishing, hunting, water, fire, shelter, movement, concealment, and how each decision affects your visibility to other people. For hunting, I discuss why the 12-gauge shotgun is one of my preferred survival firearms because of its versatility across a wide range of game. But there’s a major disadvantage: NOISE. If avoiding attention matters, firing a shotgun can advertise your location over a considerable distance. We discuss the tradeoff between acquiring food and revealing your general location, along with why staying mobile and creating distance afterward may matter. Fishing offers a very different option. I carry a ready-to-use Go Reel from Crystal Creek Gear that allows me to reach a fishing location, get a line in the water quickly, potentially gather food, pack everything back up, and continue moving without the noise associated with hunting. I also cook fish over a small, concealed fire using an old rusted barrel I find in the woods to help shield the flame. It’s a good example of using what’s already around you instead of assuming you’ll always have the perfect piece of survival gear. We also cover: • Finding and gathering water while traveling • Why surviving without food or water isn’t the same thing as remaining functional • Emergency fishing and food procurement • Hunting versus fishing in a low-profile situation • Managing noise, smoke, fire, and visibility • Minimalist shelters for staying mobile • Choosing concealed locations instead of obvious campsites • Moving discreetly through the woods • Crossing roads while minimizing exposure • Creating distance after gathering or preparing food • Carrying only what you can realistically move with • Why skills and decision-making can become more important than gear The objective isn’t to disappear like some Hollywood character. It’s to understand how ordinary decisions — where you stop, where you cook, how much noise you make, how you cross an opening, and how long you remain in one location — can affect your exposure during a real emergency.
