This format but with reheating leftovers would be quite an interesting watch.

The subtle shade being thrown at Jamie, with his potato in the center of the off the microwave, as the card pops up talking about offseting the placement is just 👌

I combine the two potato techniques - 9 mins in the micro, take out, rub with oil, coat with salt, oven for 30 mins. Perfection. Fluffy and soft inside, beautiful crispy skin.

Thank you, Mike, for acknowledging how expensive even the most basic grocery shop is!

When I was teenager I used to eat baked beans daily, hob, microwave, drank directly from the can, didn't matter. Quick easy after school snack. One year while visiting my father and now late stepmother (who was a woman who knew how to cook and even ran a restaurant at one point I believe) she prepared one of my usual cans on the hob and it was the most delicious serving I'd ever had then and since. I don't eat baked beans nearly as often but for the last 20 years often when I do I toss up cooking them on the hob and taking another crack and recreating that flavour. But I've never been able to reproduce it and it now occurs to me I've probably always got them to boiling point. The fact there is a much lower target temperature is a revelation. I'm now looking forward to the next time I try to reproduce them (less so looking online for a suitable food thermometer). Much appreciated guys.

The potato in the microwave was done in a way that makes the potatoes taste and feel weird.
Try these. Wrap the potato in a wet sopping wet towel and wrap in a plastic wrap or equivalent, trapping in the steam in the potato. Or put potatoes in a microwave safe bowl half way filled with water and covered with a wet towel. These methods create steam and it makes the potatoes from the microwave taste and feel better than the style that was done in the video.

I know US bacon is different, but I cook it flat on a foil lined pan in the oven so it does cook in its fat. I love it that way. I turn it half way through cooking time.
