  What’s the most important to remember is that most of the survivors were children. The parents and adults made sure the children survived and they did.

  Up at 5 AM feeding my baby who is having a lot of feeding issues. These videos are AWESOME for me to watch during late night feeds, the vibe is still calm, but I get to be entertained!!🤣❤️ thank you so much!!!

  So Caitlin Doughty from Ask a Mortician has a pretty disturbing video on this where she goes into the science of starvation and explains that, based on the timeline of the events and the length of time it takes for the human body to die of starvation, they weren’t actually starving to death. They just thought that they were, but in actuality they were dying of hypothermia and exposure. Essentially, they cannibalized each other for no reason.

  That PBS documentary from 1992 is probably my favorite of all time. The music is sooo eerie and the actors reading the letters did such an incredible job.

  Also, that may 1st deadline was the absolute late deadline. Ideally they should’ve been aiming to leave like an entire month earlier

  Reed didn’t tell the guides they were thinking about cannibalism. He was long gone by then. He was not part of that party. The two guides were very much in danger otherwise because of racism but one of them did die of exposure.
