Since you are a fan of Domaine Carneros, note that its building is a copy of Chateau de La Marquetterie, located in a small town South of Epernay, which has been owned by the Taiitinger family for about 90 years. Also, in addition to cathedral Notre Dame de Reims, I strongly recommend a visit to Basilique Saint Remi, an impressive romanesque church which predates Notre Dame by several hundred years.

Glad to find someone detailing their experience for a first time visit, by a non-expert. I am a guide in Champagne thus your experience helps bring back those emotions that my clients feel, as you did. I like all the houses each one has its own special touch as well as something a little more unique about their wines. Well done.

Interesting that you seemed to do both Reims & Epernay in the same day - wondering how you got around? Did you use trains between the two towns, and how about getting out to Verve Clicquot & Pomeroy?
