i'm 13, and learned who this band was because of doom 3 (the main menu music so be specific) and when i mentioned it to my dad he said in the happiest voice ever "whaattt?? tool???you are my son!" i love him and this band's music. this helps me endure through the abuse that happens at my mom's house, and through the stress of my life. spiral out.

Edit: i'm doing a lot better now! my mom no longer has as much custody as she had when i made this, and i've been making music!

I bought an extra copy of Lateralus to lend to my girlfriend. She thought her all-time favourite band was the Spice Girls, but my generous act of charity showed her she was mistaken. She married me. That was 9 years ago.

The greatest song ever written. The only bad thing about hearing it for the first time is that you will never be able to hear it for the first time again.

This song is crazy on so many levels. The drummer is going ham, the lyrics are impactful, the song is damn near 9 and a half minutes long. The perfectionalism is insane. I dont know if there will ever be music created like this ever again. Its weird to refer it this way but the late 1900's to early 2000's just might be one of the greatest times in music for a long time

can we talk about 4:57? ever single instrument is playing a different time signature.
Drums: 5/4
Guitar: 4/4
Bass: 3/4
Maynard: ?/4

its so well done, and keeping it in sync to actually play it must be quite a triumph. As someone who plays all three instruments featured in this band, this part is hard just with the CD backing, I cant imagine relying in 3 other real people. Masters.

Existence has never begun and will never end. You have always and will always exist and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Tool isn't just a band you listen to. It's an experience, a journey, a path to parts of your mind you really cant get too without them, a feeling you didn't know you had.
