I can't believe this game is 25 years old. Looking back on it now, it REALLY should have surpassed Smackdown 2. It does feel like Smackdown 2 but on a PlayStation 2 and more refined. The intro movie is what really sold the game to wrestling fans in terms of what the PlayStation 2 could do from a hardware perspective and as a launch title. Its amazing to see some of the cut wrestlers referenced in that magazine you show! WWE really sabotaged the Invasion and it had on a knock on effect for Yukes. The fact that 17 wrestlers, 5 tag teams and additional match types like a kendo stick, bullrope and casket match were cut was unbelievable! I have a feeling the game was essentially cut assets and commentary for Smackdown 2 just put into this game and then cut out as well.

It's interesting how smooth I remember characters in this game looking, and then I'm watching the video and I had to do a double-take. Amazing, we ever thought this looked incredible. lol. Great video as always. Also, I vividly remember that commentary...
