What a lucky house. The restoration is not-for-profit by a developer whacking it together quick for a buck, but a young couple who want everything done properly and doing most of it themselves. Inspiring.

People honestly don't understand how MUCH insane amount of work, time and money it takes to restore victorian or older properties properly so they are future proof. Not just painting and fixing broken things, but making sure it doesn't continue falling appart.

Over the past 20 or so years, I have watched with horror, on Google Earth, as the double fronted Victorian Essex house I grew up in has been steadily vandalised in the name of "modernisation".  It is therefore very comforting to watch the two of you put so much thought, effort and love into preserving the character of your home.😍

If your relationship can withstand this renovation, marriage should be a piece of cake!

Not only is the house beautiful,   and, so delighted you kept much of the original details, but more impressive is the fact you still look very happy and did not kill each other during the process

The line "remove this modern extention-" made me soooo happy

The amount of structural repairs you had to do is insane! I admire your determination and not giving up. Well done saving that beautiful old home. It’s an asset to the community.

How refreshing to see this young couple invest their money/time/personal effort to this massive restoration. Well done! You have done it rights so its history can live on another 100 years.. how proud you must be of your determination to do it correctly.

It blows my mind that people have the imagination and skill to achieve such a huge project.

That was one of the best round up videos I have ever seen. I have been watching all year and I love the sympathetic work you are doing to a beautiful old home. The narrative as the video was going was brilliant explaining why you and Louie did things. Congratulations on a great 9 months of renovation

This kind of restoration is great on several levels.  First, you've brought back a group of buildings to a condition that will ensure a home for you.  Second, that same work will ensure the improvement of the immediate community.  Third, you've learned skills that will stand you in good stead for the rest of your lives.  And fourth, you've allowed local craftsmen and artisans to keep their skills alive and to pass them on to new workers, thus improving the economics of your community.  I hope you enjoy your home, and continue to find projects to engage your community with.
