Even as recently as like this year Yankees fans on Reddit, which is a pretty young social media platform, continue to defend this ridiculous policy. People need to triage their priorities.

The Orioles had an appearance policy under Peter Angelos all the up until Buck Showalter was hired in 2010. He convinced Angelos to relax it but, even then there was still one in place. This had to do with facial hair and hair length. Under Angelos, you won't find any player with more than a mustache or long hair. This has obviously been negated since he gave up control of the team when his health started failing. One of the darkest periods in our history was his stewardship of the team and things like that were mind boggling when he was so inept as an owner.

3:09 I don't know why but just honestly I think it's just really awesome that instead of focusing on what would make him the most money he just loved the mustache is so much he was willing to lose out on all that money from 7,000 fans showing up for free because they had mustaches. Mustaches and Great looks mattered more to him than the money. I love it and this is coming from somebody who actually can't really grow a good mustache. I mean I can grow one but it just doesn't look good and I kind of have to be clean shaving because facial hair just doesn't work for me but fortunately the hair on top of my head more than makes up for it as it grows long and beautifully despite being 37 years old already

(Re-upload to address audio issues on the original) What are your thoughts on the appearance policy? Should the Yankees do away with it completely?

I'm a dodgers fan who hated the yankees as a kid but have grown to appreciate the franchise and it's history. Nothing like a Dodger Yankee world series in my book💯

You forget the Reds who fought against hair for decades. Taft country, where GS came from. I do note beloved Rose at times wore a long mullett.
Both Harper and Machado talked about wanting to be Yankees as kids. The Yanks wanted to low ball them due that. Machado went elsewhere though not fot facial hair. Harper didn't buy the lowball but often has a beard.

I still don't want duck dynasty beards on the Yankees, but the trimmed beards they have now are nice looking. It was an odd tradition to hang onto for so long.
