Hey thanks for watching! If you want you can also follow my instagram https://www.instagram.com/drewbuildsstuff/ . I generally post some sneak peaks of future projects on there. Quick note on length: my videos are as long as the footage comes out to with the information included that I think needs to be included. I’m not into the tiktok style videos that most other build channels produce and rather like to focus on the full build process and education. After the tiny house video that seems to be what most viewers prefer as well. What do you guys think? Merry Christmas 🎄

Professional sauna maker from Finland here. couple of notes to any one building a sauna themselves:
1) You need vertical airgaps behind the paneling inside the sauna. if you build one like Drew here, you put very thin vertical stirps behind the horizontal supports. You want the air to move fast in there to dry any gaps. Also it spreads the heat better, making it more even sauna experience. You also need some little gap between the roof paneling and the wall paneling, for the air to move better. Sealing it all off just makes a moist corridor for the steam to sit in. First rule of water is: it always gets in, but might not get out.
2) You want to have like 1 feet of air between you and the roof. Too close to the roof: your head is too hot. Too close to the floor: Your feet never get warm.
3) My personal trick: When placing the benches, I put tiny pieces of rubber mat between the bench and the supports. This kills any noise of you climbing on the benches. No wood creaking.
4) You actually wants some gaps between your planks on your benches. You want air to rush to your back. I'm pretty sure that with so tight gaps between his benches and the grid between the benches; the air inside the benches is cold and you can feel the cold air running to your back from there when you throw water on the stove
5) You definitely need access to under the benches. You need to clean your sauna regularly. Sweaty drips, dirt, sand... It's impossible to clean if you can't access it.
6) pay close attention to the instructions on the stove. Some of them need to be preheated to burn the "storage oils" off them. They are stored in years in a storage and they are covered in oil to keep them from rusting. This oil is super toxic and pains to burn it off when it's installed, possibly ruining your sauna.
7) you need to seal the hole you make in the roof to keep the steam inside. It will go into the roof rockwool and the wooden structure, possibly ruining it. When hot steam hits cold wood it will condensate and wet the wood.
8) You definitely want to cover your benches and back rest with either oil or wax. Sweat is not clean water and tends to stain the benches after some time. That oil looks great on cedar!
9) You need air! Worst case with a wood burning stove the stove eats all the air in the room. Never nap in a sauna like this. You need a intake hole for you stove, as big as the exhaust pipe, preferably close to the stove as possible. (underneath, behind... Doesn't matter where, but close)
9.5) more air! The more air you have in a sauna, more refreshing and better it all feels. You are wasting energy with it, but it's more pleasant. You need intake for the stove and the room, and you need a vent to push some of the air out. Preferable to the roof, or to a wall, little bit higher than your head. You should have a hatch to close it while heating up the sauna, and close it a little bit when sitting in there. Then open it again when you are done, to dry the room properly.
10) drain! You will spill water, and easiest way to clean the room is to hose it down. You want water to leave nicely your structure. Little tiny holes, inaccessible under floorboards is a big no no! You want a proper drain or just a 2 inch hole somewhere in there. But you need access. leaves, dirt, hairs... Anything will clog the hole and fast

design is great and I love all the finishing touches on everything in this project. Hope he drills a vent hole and keeps enjoying his sauna for a long time. Everyone should have a sauna.

I love these longer form videos it's really nice to just watch one thing and not have to find other parts in a series or wait for the next part to come out and be left on a cliffhanger

This YouTube video is where John Bellion got the idea for “My Boy”

I knew this guy went the extra mile. But I did not expect him to go and make a whole bunch of snow for the video. That is just crazy to me. Your craftsmanship and your attention to detail is phenomenal. Good work as always. Can't wait to see what you do next.

This is one of the most kick ass things I've watched someone build from scratch. The entire design is beautiful.

Thank you for using my music man! In a strange twist of fate, Jon Bellion watched this video on building a sauna, heard one of my tracks, sang over it and put it on his new album Father Figure - it’s the last track called My Boy. ❤
Now I gotta get back to building my sauna!

I watched the entire video and only at the end did I realize this was an hour and 30mins long! There's been blockbuster movies I've watched that weren't this enjoyable. Amazing build well done!

The snow really made the final shots - worth the effort, in my opinion. 🤩

as a Sauna lover and a filmmaker I can only say that I am absolutely impressed how exceptionally well crafted your videos and builds are. But what stands out even more is the heart and soul you put into it. Congrats, this is peak YT content!
