Studebaker didn't go out of business; they diversified and exited the manufacture of cars and trucks. Merged with Worthington, they became Studebaker-Worthington which made more money and employed more people than the car company ever did. I believe S-W was absorbed into Wagner Automotive Group in the late Seventies.
