  I just realized why I wouldn’t make a good lineman. I’m way to clumsy and I’d drop my tools all the time

  The way you saved your wrench. I saved a washer like that on my double arm change out for comp. Best/scariest feeling.

  Nice job, guys!  My Iowa Power & Light crew (IBEW Local 499) did the Kansas City rodeo back in 1988 & in 1989.  It was fabulous!

  I grew up hearing the wild, and exciting tales of a PG&amp;E Lineman/ Crew Foreman/ Troubleman straight from the horses mouth. My Dad worked for PG&amp;E, and served all of the local communities at one point or another here on the Central Coast of California.<br><br>I&apos;ll tell you what, these guys seem to be cut from a different cloth. My Dad will be 70 this year. He stands about 6&apos;4&quot;, tips the scales at around 3 bills (maybe a bit more?), to this very day the man can STILL out sprint me, has the meanest farmer tan you&apos;ve ever seen, has forearms that rival my biceps, and what appears to be a beer belly may indeed be BUT it&apos;s hard as a damn rock. <br><br>These guys deserve so much more credit than they ever receive from the communities that they serve. Not only do they keep your lights on no matter how windy, wet or miserable the weather may be but they take an extreme amount of pride in doing so as quickly and as safely as possible. <br><br>There&apos;s &nbsp;no doubt that &nbsp;Police &amp; Firefighters are &nbsp;both in dangerous lines of work BUT the difference with Linework is that there is ZERO room for error 24/7/365. These guys are heroes, and certainly deserve our appreciation for what they do on a daily basis.

  I had my first linemen job back in 1921, and pole climbed up until 2017… great career..

  I just carry on using a picker, so ill still be able to use my hips when im 60.

  PEC -- my power company. &nbsp;I can tell you that they&apos;re really fast to fix power failures. &nbsp;Now I know why.
