    These games are so incredibly tactical, it&apos;s fascinating. The opposite of positional chess, with such an open board early, means that every tactic can be hit with a counter-attack and each player has to be especially careful. It&apos;s inspiring to watch and learn from. That said, the heyday of this opening is long gone, as ...d5 any time in the first 5 or so moves (often giving back a pawn) refutes the gambit and makes black slightly better, due to blocking white&apos;s light squared bishop from seeing f7. As you can see, it was only played once in the 7 matches analyzed here. Still, the Danish will always have a niche for catching people off guard who do not know the refuting theory!
