This is such a good video. Once every couple years I like to go to the pond down the street and make a jarranium out of the mud and pond water and see what comes of it once the water clears. So much fun!

As a scuba diver,an amazing dive to do is an ostracod dive. I hit it perfectly on Bonaire once, right time of month, best month and diving way out away from city lights. Turn off flashlights at 3040 feet deep at the right time and see an intense firefly show underwater. Hold real still so you don’t scare them. It’s incredibly magical!

Personally I jumpstart my tanks with plants, stones, wood, substrate and used filter material from a seasoned tank. I’m not brave enuf to put pond , lake, river materials in my tanks. All nano fish and shrimp in my collection. When I buy plants, especially potted plants, I do add the whole plant, pot and all into my tanks for a week or more. Surprising what little creatures hitch rides in/on them. Of course snails too. This was so interesting and info packed. What a fun experiment, thank you for doing this so I don’t have to😁☮️❤️🐠🦐🪴

Very interesting... but when it comes to worms, scuds, and other creepfest stuff, it gave me goosebumps.:hand-orange-covering-eyes: Thank you, though. You are definitely a science guy!

Absolutely fantastic video!!! I was pondering what I should introduce to my aquarium this has educated me a lot.
It's hard without a existing supply for microbes. But I'll find them somewhere here at home.
Thanks again bud!!!🙂

Alex, you read my mind. I've been looking for information on the microorganisms that I can raise in the tanks to make them more natural and self-sustaining. Thank you
