I love that you said “maximize the nature, minimize the work!” 😊

I love when people take the time to put together an actual long thought out video instead of the same regurgitated sound bites. Thank you for taking the time to share! <3

You silly goose! You have already achieved what you think you haven’t; you are an incredibly excellent professor of chemistry, the environment, philosophy, biology and oh,yes, fishkeeping in this YouTube channel. You speak excitedly about not just keeping fish well but many other topics which we all love to hear from you, which stimulates us to explore more in life (and taking care of our fish). Something fishy about all this….. We need you to keep teaching us while you’re enjoying exploring more about life. Enjoy life, which I suspect you do every day. Enjoy that many of us are encouraging you in your journey. Thanks for including us! Keep going- it’s worth it! Your fishy friend, Angela 22:00

Only got back into this hobby a couple years ago, but even with prior experience, I've learned more in these last years than I ever knew. Once I learned to quit trying to God Mode a tank and control every little thing, and instead realize I'm an observing care taker, my tank began to thrive. My only regret in this hobby is not realizing this way sooner!

We are planning the construction of a discus habitat and I've been working on this for some time. Once we get the room to do it, we are doing the following: 1) the tank must be 120-180 gallons. The base will be sand with a large tree trunk vertical thin tree trunks to represent the flood plains they love. Some grasses will be planted among the trees and the front. Leaf litter and twigs will cover the bottom and that will contain micro fauna and macro fauna. I'm getting several bags of catappa leaves and other types to litter the bottom of the tank. It will, naturally, be a black water tank. And it will have a good water flow just like in the wild (the nature photographer noted he had to hold onto a tree limb while filming the discus the current was so strong!) And the tank will also include apistogramma and tetras and there will be probably two large tree branches with the branches pointed down like fingers into sand. The discus love using structures like this to feel comfortable. Since I live in Colombia I hope to get all fish wild caught.

YouTube has unsubscribed me from your channel 3 times this month, but I'm still seeing your notifications luckily.

What a great video! Having had fish tanks since 2006 I realize that “ I’m doing it wrong” I really like your detailed explanations and deep dives at times but the understanding of how it all connects together to bring about a self supporting system… amazing, eye opening, logical, reasonable and most important… followable … thank you for your insight😲😊
