Perhaps someone mentioned this before, if so, please disregard. After 5 years of journaling, I´ve found: 1. People do not spend enough time journaling to set the habit. Everything now a days is immediate, so most people get discouraged by not seen the results they seek fast enough. 2. Many people compare themselves with others but fail to find a mentor. 3. Many people do not find their own style, instead they copy others´ in the hope to obtain what they look for. 4. Some people do not believe their story is worth writing about, so they discard the idea of journaling altogether. Anyway, my 2 cents.

The title is ‘beginner notebook mistakes’. Advanced journaling, like many of the examples he gave from others, ARE very much overwhelming for beginners. They’re next level. This video is helpful for those who are just thinking about shifting from digital to analogue. I have watched other content creators and they’re aspirational next level for me and many newbies. This video is great for BEGINNERS.

11:05 OMG that's my spread!!! Thank you so much for featuring my future log/year at a glance, and for calling it beautiful and thought out... I really appreciate the compliment and recognition! I totally agree that creating too many custom collections we don't need can often become overwhelming and unnecessary - after 10 years of bullet journaling, I've found that I like starting off my journals with just a simple future log/year at a glance, and I only add other collections as I need them.

So true. When the books is too expensive, you're afraid to mess it up and so it interferes with the creative flow and creating space for me.

I appreciate your work, but using separate notebooks for work and personal life was really helpful for me

In all my 35 years, I've only managed to finish ONE journal. I've started countless, made progress on several, and then stopped. I'm really happy you came in my feed, because I miss being able to just reach for my notebook and write out what was in my head. Thank you ❤

Just started journaling and after watching many videos, I have settled on a 3 book system. I know, I know... you recommend 1. But I like the idea of 3 specific ones. I have a Journal for my personal thoughts only. A diary. I have a bullet journal for organization, goals, habit tracking etc... and then I have a waste book. A pocketsize cheap spiral pad that is always on me so that I can write anything down anything at any time. Some of which will migrate to one of the other 2, some that get crossed out because it served it's purpose. The Waste pad stays with me at all times. The bullet is either home or in the work truck. The journal stays home. So far (1 week lol) it works for me, but if it does not, will change.

Since you asked: the most important thing I changed was the number of pages my notebooks have. After about 6 weeks I get bored - using thinner notebooks with fewer pages has changed everything. Now my excitement is back about every 6 - 8 weeks when I get to buy a new and shiny book!

Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos! The bujo method has helped me so much! <3

I wish $30 for a journal was easily doable for me with a single income and kids, but it’s just not. I recently found a journal for $10 that has the features I want. I’ll be trying it out next and we’ll see if I really miss that $20 of difference.

This was helpful. I have attempted the bullet journal in the past but gave it up when it seemed like everyone spent all their time drawing and decorating spreads. I am a minimalistic person. I appreciate the decorative work some do, but I am just not going do the decorations. I have just been keeping regular lined notebooks with 2 pages for each month and a line per day for each month. Behind that a page for future appointments after that, then daily note pages.
