A tip that took me decades to admit. Size of the planner should match your typical handwriting. Most planners are small to fit tiny, neat, print lettering. I write with a fountain pen in slanted, cursive penmanship. So the smaller planners were always frustrating to use, and I was never able to use them efficiently.
A couple of years ago, I gave in and bought a B5 size planner. What a difference! I can now use it easily with room to write legibly. It's larger to carry, but it's usually on my desk anyway. Wish I would have tried it years ago instead of being determined to use a tiny sheet of paper that suits handwriting that's half the size of mine. Even A5 journals are hard to use.
FYI: I found one at Walmart by "Pen+Gear" for $17, hard back. It only came lined, no dots. 😒 But the paper is surprisingly decent, and my fountain pen doesn't bleed through.
If Ryder ever sells his books in the larger sizes, I'd buy them. Hint, hint! 😉

Hi! Random sort-of bullet journaler here. I started with following the way Ryder does it, then customized it. I thought I’d share some customizations I made in case it helps someone.

1. I use loose paper inside hanging folders for my collections. They are not in my notebook. Collections include “life admin” as well as projects I’m working on (or planning to work on. Or once decided on a whim to work on).

2. I don’t do long form journaling in my Bujo. Bullet journaling is helping me become less verbose (if you believe it). Long form journaling goes in a folder.

2. I use a digital calendar. I tried to resist it and use analog… but I found digital was able to do exactly what I wanted it to do to support me.

Hope that helped someone

I've been bullet journaling and following your stuff since 2014 and I have to say:I think this is one of my favorite videos/explanations I've seen y'all make. It's simple and extremely relatable. I think it's a great example of the gift that vulnerability and wisdom can be for others. Thanks for offering it.

Hi Ryder and Community. I've been using BUJO since 12 days ago... I don't have words to thank you for sharing this method, simple but so useful in complex times. This is the first time I have organization in my calendar, my everyday goals have been prioritized and my anxiety: finally under control. I still have so many projects and ideas to working on, but they are not my priority today, perhaps for the next month, so I migrate them... And if there is something in my mind about these postponed projects: I write a collection to be retaken later. I still need to look for a better notebook (am not in the US), but I am happy: I started. Don't look for perfection, this idea resonated with me... Thanks again for sharing BUJO with the world, and thanks community for sharing your wins and losses, we are learning and improving everyday, and learning from each other. We can do this 💪

I've been subscribed to this channel for years and every time you put up a video that's similar to ones before, I still have to watch it. I have your book and have read it all the way through. But I used to do Bullet Journaling. I haven't in the last two years. I have been using Obsidian to keep track of my life. And I've just watched your video and realized I miss doing it your way. So today I will get out the notebook and start again.

Thank you for your work and constant encouragement to everyone.

Ryder, this is possibly one of the best videos you’ve made. I’ve come back to it several times. It’s much deeper than just BuJo tips, especially for those of us with ADHD

Physical reminder is key to me. Keeping a notebook open on my desk ensures I never lose sight of what I need to do.
