  Holy s***! You really sugar coated trucking. I&apos;ve been a truck driver for 26 years. I&apos;d be happy to do an interview if you&apos;d like to hear about what it&apos;s really like out here. There&apos;s more than theres room to type here.

  I’m over 50. Went to paramedic school because it is something I’d always wanted to do. Can’t have a conversation with anyone in this industry without getting a job. Just started another one- which takes me to 4. I’ve applied for zero and this was supposed to be a hobby.

  I&apos;ve had my CDL and driving for 32 years and still going. Trucking companies won&apos;t tell you about the expenses of living on the road. 32 years ago, $50.00 would take care of food and drinks for a week. Now, $250.00 barley covers it. That&apos;s just the start. Their are appointments to load or unload with unrealistic times in variousweatherconditions. DOT inspections where you can get fines, even though you told the company about an issue with their truck. I could go on, but that should be enough to get you asking questions if you&apos;re interested in a driving career.

  Just retired from the Underground Utility Locator job mentioned for a &nbsp;company that does locating for Power, Gas, Telecommunication companies and sewer and water in some towns. Drive your own PU, take it home at night (put only 3K on my own car one year), company phone and laptop. &nbsp;Low entry requirement: HS diploma and be able to pass random drug test. W-2, PTO, 6 Fed holidays off + 1 flexible holiday, benefits available. &nbsp;In this area, job starts over 20 with 3 raises the first year to get you to 22. The money is in the overtime. I retired after 11 years at 31+/hr and almost 47 for OT. Went from 3 to 4 weeks PTO @ 10 yr mark. Can be a gateway job to utilities or Public Works. Daily interaction with contractors &nbsp;home owners and Utilities, especially for emergencies.<br>Downside, although they were trying to do alternate WE work this year, for most of the dig season it&apos;s 6 days a week. &nbsp;With experience, you are starting to locate Electric and high pressure gas lines which can be stressful because people&apos;s lives are depending on you.<br>Wished I&apos;d thought about doing videos and putting them on Youtube at the time.

  Current certified Pharmacy Technician here and a lot of people don’t stick around because like Shane, they either don’t like it, but more so than this, you’re going to be very overworked and underpaid in just about every niche, especially the Retail environment. Pre-Covid, a $10 an hour job was good and even post-Covid, while the pay has gotten better, it’s almost not worth it for most if you can go make the same hourly wage at fast food and not have to worry about certifications or continuing education or that your mistakes can kill your patients. I have an amazing job where I work from home now but I’ve spent many years in the trenches to get here.

  You don&apos;t know what you are talking about with the CDL man,it is still a very hard to get a CDL job if you are 50 years old or older

  I&apos;d be cautious about those CDL jobs. Firstly, they are not simply driving a truck back and forth they require a lot of physical input. Secondly, the companies are often scummy. They force their employees to break the law or threatened them with firing or other disciplinary actions if they don&apos;t comply, or if they do comply.
