I am a Saint Thomas Christian from Kerala. Thanks for mentioning about our community. We are also called Syrian christians because we follow the Syriac rite (both East and West by different factions).

I live in the UK now, and many of my friends attributes the origin of Christianity in India
to the European colonisation. But in fact, it’s well-established by historians that Syriac christianity existed in Kerala at least a millennia before the arrival of Portuguese by the end of 15th century.

I am an atheist, but it is so fun to learn about the history and literature of religions. Especially when the religion is responsible for shaping the world for a good chunk of human history.

I did a Halloween costume once of St. Bartholomew. I got a morph suit that was the same colour as my skin, and cut in such a way that looked like I was carrying my skin, and the I painted my actual skin bloody colour. Nobody got it, but I was still proud of myself.

I grew up in St. Andrews! There's actually a really interesting legend about how the Saint's bones made their way to Scotland. They were originally kept at the site of his execution in Petros Greece but at some point the Byzantine emperor wanted to move them to Constantinople. For some reason this angered God and he sent and angel to St. Regulus (called St. Rule in English) which told him to sail as far north as he can with Andrew's remains in a chest. Eventually he came to Fife where another angel told him to found his church in the Pictish city of Cill Rìmhinn. He did and built the earliest cathedral on the site, St. Rule's Kirk. St. Rule's tower in the cathedral is the only surviving part of it. There are many versions of the legend but that's the one I've heard.

If only Caravaggio had lived longer, imagine all the incredible paintings he could’ve created.
